"This past weekend I received my ESR
meter. This meter would
have paid for itself the first day at work if I had not forgotten to take it on my service
call. I had to repair a set 30 miles from the shop and being used to only taking my trusty
meter and iron every thing else is in the truck off I went. Well as luck may have it I ran
into a set with a SMPS supply and I strongly suspected caps. After 30 mins The regulator
blew and I still had not found the right one. Well, off to the shop with the floor model
set. Back at the shop it was fixed in less than 1 minute with my ESR meter. After the back
was removed!! If I had my ESR I would have saved the regulator and not had to bring the set
in and back 30 miles. So the moral of the story everyone without an ESR meter do yourself
a favor and get one. The techs on this group were not wrong when they said it was the best
investment they made. Thanks for the forum and happy "ESRing".
